About Us

Vulnerable Children in Need Australia Incorporated (VCN Australia) is a charitable organisation based in Perth, Western Australia. We were established by a group that includes church members and people who have lived through the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan. Our shared experiences and faith have inspired us to act — to turn compassion into practical help for children in need.

VCN Australia is founded on Christian principles, as expressed in 1 John 3:17–18:

“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

Our vision is to see vulnerable children affected by the South Sudan humanitarian crisis — whether in Australia or abroad — enjoy the rights promised in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and to grow up in safe, loving environments where they can thrive physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Our Beginnings

VCN Australia was formed as an independent, non-profit, non-political association to continue and expand the work begun by our sisters and brothers in South Sudan. While our long-term aspirations are international, we are starting small — focusing first on engaging with our local community to meet the needs of children and families originally from South Sudan and now living here in Perth, Western Australia. By building strong relationships, sharing our stories, and working side by side with local partners, we hope to grow sustainably and extend our reach to those who need it most.
